Off Loom Weaving Workshop

The weaving workshop scheduled for Saturday (2/6/10) has been rescheduled for Saturday (2/13/10). Artists Susan Brooks and Nancy Hoopes have an outstanding display of their art work at the Norris Public Library for the months of February and March. The reception scheduled for Friday February 5, has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

IT SNOWED ON OUR PARADE!!!

We are completely moved into our new building, but the parade of art was cancelled due to the snow storm last weekend. On Monday and Tuesday loyal (and strong) volunteers moved everything across the street, dodging snow plows, slush, traffic and puddles. Others unpacked, worked on displays, swept, hooked up plumbing, vacuumed carted stuff up and down stairs and we are now operational and looking good.

Saturday morning Visual Arts Center Artists will be moving their artwork from 173 N. Main St. in downtown Rutherfordton to 160 N. Main St. The new location is just across the street and down to the corner. The Rutherford County Visual Artist Guild Visual Art Center features a large gallery space for wide variety of artwork and hand created gifts, as well as, a well-lighted studio for classes and workshops. Check back later for Opening Night event scheduled for early March!!

The RCVAG Visual Arts Center has outgrown our first gallery home and will soon be moving to a much larger building! We will have room for more art, classes, workshops, and events. Volunteers are hard at work readying the Visual Arts Center new home at 160 N. Main St.

YOUNG BUDDING ARTISTS

The YOUNG BUDDING ARTISTS show is on display until the end of January, at the Norris Library in Rutherfordton. The show features paintings of animal pairs surrounding a large Noah's Ark. All participants are students of Judy Ockert, whose classes meet at the Visual Arts Center. Be sure to stop by the Library and see the wonderful works of these young artists!!!

Guild's 10th birthday and thank you to all!

On Friday we also celebrated guild's 10th birthday. So, we would like to thank to all members, non-members, supporters, sponsors and patrons for their help.

Also special thank you to Evelyn Roberson and Dot Lane who are charter members of the guild and to all helpers that stepped up and made the gallery happen. It would not have been possible without you all!

On Feb. 27, 2008, 5 - 8pm - We cut the ribbon for GRAND OPENING of Visual Artists Gallery of RCVAG on 173 N. Main Street in Rutherfordton. At the same time we celebrated 10th anniversary of the guild.

RIBBON CUTTING - GALLERY GRAND OPENING

Well, it is going to officially happen on Friday at 5:00pm. The Chamber of Commerce is going to have a ribbon cutting for us.

Everyone should pat themselves on their backs for the efforts that the Guild has put forth. If you have been by to see the Gallery you should. We are keeping regular hours (Tues-Sat 10 to 3 and late on Friday to 5:30).

This Friday night we will have our big bash from 5-8 at the Gallery. This is also going to be a big fundraiser for us as well. So all come.

Also, if you have not turned your artwork in please do so ASAP!!!.

Gallery - Day #2

Day #2 at the Gallery

So, yesterday we painted with primer, today we painted with white paint. It still needs one more coat to make it look nice. So, please could anyone help to donate the paint?

Art guild has an account with Sherwin-Williams store in Forest City, phone is: 828-245-6451. We need 4 of one-gallon buckets to do touch-ups. Please help to donate paint!!!

As a guild we have 40% discount, so one bucket is no more than $14. When you go to store to purchase it, don't forget to tell them that you are buying it for Visual Arts Guild, or mention Linda McGregor's name. The paint (I am copying specifications from label) is for interior, latex, flat, 6385 DOVER WHITE (Sher-Color formula), one gallon extra white. Thank you very much for your help.

Also, we are going to be working at the Gallery pretty much everyday from 10am till .... please stop by or call Sandy or Linda to see how you can help us to get this gallery of the ground. Thank you to everyone.

We have very exciting news to share with you. RCVAG has a home now!!! YEAH!!!! We are located in downtown Rutherfordton right across from Kidsenses, where Fire & Glaze used to be.
Today, Saturday 24, we had our first working day. We are so excited! Thank you all the volunteers that came today to help. Mark your calendars, we are planning to be ready for grand opening in February. So help us to make this happen.
